With the stretch of great weather, we are getting, it’s time to name drop some of the best river beaches in Sonoma County. Tis’ the season to grab your sunglasses, flip flops, sunscreen, floppy hats, and most importantly, your friends!
Johnson’s beach is one of the oldest and most well known beaches in Sonoma County, there is an endless amount of fun for the entire family at Johnson’s beach. You can rent Canoes, single and double kayaks, paddle boats, go splash around in the river or just lounge and relax on the beach! There is always something amazing happening at this beach, for instance on May 21st the great Russian River race is happening! Experienced and recreational kayakers take part in the race, followed with live music, beer and food provided for all to enjoy. The Ironman 70.3 Vineman and the full Vineman triathlons start at Johnson’s beach. These events bring thousands of people to our community and the full Vineman is the longest standing iron man in the United States! Don’t forget about the Russian River Jazz & Blues festival at Johnson’s beach in September. It seems like good times are always happening at this historic beach, so if you want a place to hang out with a big crowd and enjoy the atmosphere or with the family, Johnson’s beach is for you!
Forestville River access
My favorite river beach of all time is the Forestville River beach, directly off the road on River rd. in between Guerneville and Forestville. This secluded beach is Forestville’s best kept secret! It is a bit of a hike to get to especially if you have an ice chest, guitar, and more Frisbee’s than any one group of people couple possibly need, but I promise the little walk is worth it! The beach is very spacious and has lots of room for people to spread out. The people are always friendly, the music soothes the soul and if you’re lucky someone will be barbecuing right next to your camp… if you’re lucky. This is the perfect place to bring single and double tubes as well as a couple floating ice chests, which we carry in store, obviously.
Monte Rio Beach
Another fantastic beach we have here on the riverfront is the Monte Rio beach, this beautiful area is a really cool place to chill out with friends or meet some new friends, the people of Monte Rio are so friendly! You know you’re at the beach when you get to the Monte Rio Bridge, you can’t miss it! With an awesome little food shack and kayaks for rent you can really carb load before a great kayak ride up and down the river.
As always my friends, SRSS has all the summer apparel you need to chill out in the sun and enjoy yourself. Come on in and check out our great selection of lifestyle gear, cheers!
