Ah yes, the pride and joy of Sonoma County – Lake Sonoma. An absolutely beautiful spot for any local or visitor to go hang out with some friends, chillax on a boat, waterski, wakeboard, tube or just enjoy the gorgeous scenery. It is truly a privilege to have such an amazing place in our backyard. Just the drive to Lake Sonoma itself is beautiful, rolling hills, vineyards and wineries surround the highway and roads leading to Lake Sonoma. When full (which it finally is) the lake has a surface area of more than 2,700 acres and 50 miles of shoreline. This gives people plenty of room to spread out and enjoy their privacy if need be, but living the lake life is about enjoy other peoples company, so get out there and make some new friends!
If you are looking for a place to camp out, Lake Sonoma is as legit as it gets, Liberty Gen campground has 97 campsites! That’s ridiculous, they have room for RV’s and tents, these campsites also have picnic tables to spread out all of your goodies, fire rings to get a nice fire pit going, some open flame BBQ and most importantly – s’mores (how can I have s’more of something if I haven’t had any yet?! Ok, now that that joke is out of the way lets continue).
If you want to take a break from the lake, there are more than 40 miles of trails available for anyone who wants to hike, mountain bike, or go horseback riding. These trails are great for anyone who wants to see the hard to reach area of lake Sonoma (they just had an ultramarathon event on these trails!) This place has a little bit of everything for everyone, it truly is a special place and we get out there as often as possible. Speaking of getting out to Lake Sonoma, save the date – Saturday, June 25th. Talk to your boss, get this date off work, we don’t condone ditching work to come out to the lake but… do what you have to do, just make sure you save that date. More coming soon, peace!
